Manoushka Larouche vit et travaille principalement à Tiohtià:ke / Mooniyang / Montréal. Son travail a été présenté notamment à la Galerie UQO (Gatineau), à Circa art actuel (Montréal), à Axenéo7 (Gatineau), dans des lieux de diffusion alternatifs tels que le local E6-21 (Montréal), les archives de Artexte (Montréal) et La galerie qui tuffera pas 3 ans (Québec). Elle détient une maitrise en arts visuels et médiatiques à l’Université du Québec à Montréal ainsi qu’une technique en photographie au Cégep du Vieux-Montréal et travaille en tant que photographe pour son projet Document original.
Son travail se situe à la rencontre de la photographie, de l’écriture et de la performativité intrinsèque à l’identité. Elle développe ses projets autour de questions liées aux conditions d’existence de l’artiste, la menant à réfléchir à la notion d’image et de liminalité. Depuis quelques années, Larouche réfléchis sur l’existence du sujet à travers l’image photographique et se penche sur des modèles d’insectes mimétiques afin de penser une approche post-anthropocène du sujet photographié. Ces recherches portent un regard critique sur la valeur d’existence du sujet, qui elle, repose sur sa visibilité et la reconnaissance de sa subjectivité dans notre société occidentale actuelle.

Manoushka Larouche lives and works mainly in Tiohtià: ke / Mooniyang / Montreal. Her work has been presented at Galerie UQO (Gatineau), Circa art actuel (Montreal), Axenéo7 (Gatineau), in alternative spaces such as Local E6-03 (Montreal), The archives of Artexte (Montreal) and La galerie qui tuffera pas 3 ans (Quebec). She holds a master’s degree in visual and media arts from the Université du Québec à Montréal as well as a technique in photography from the Cégep du Vieux-Montréal and works as a photographer for her Document original project.
Her work intersects with photography, writing and the performativity intrinsic to identity. She develops her projects around questions related to the artist’s living conditions, leading her to reflect on the notion of image and liminarity. For several years now, Larouche has been reflecting on the existence of the subject through the photographic image ans examining models of mimetic insects in order to think up a post-Anthropocene approach to the subject photographed. This research takes a critical look at the subject’s existence value, which is based on his visibility and the recognition of his subjectivity in our current Western society.
